You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just bought a kona dr dew on eBay and like a tit I realised after auction end that it was a 17" when I need a 19", as indeed I did used to have. I will get round to sticking the parts in a bigger frame but for now, can I just fit a longer stem and stick the seat up and back and it'll feel similar?
In my experience, you are wasting your time trying to get it to fit. If it really is too wee, then flog it and move on.
smaller is better for jumping and dh 🙂
Feed and water it in a greenhouse. You never know.
How small is too small?
Depends what you're doing with it. If you're commuting a few miles daily I would give it a go. I've commuted on all manner of unsuitable jalopies over the years
I'll pick it up in the morning so I'll know how small it is them. As far as I can remember a 17" is for riders up to around 5'9
you'll be able to ride it, only you will know what the fit is like.

Not true.
Maybe its not too small... maybe you're too big?
Either way, its not the right size. Flog it and buy something that fits. You wouldn't put up with riding a £3k bike that was too small so why do it with a few hundred quids worth of hybrid?
if you are average.....As far as I can remember a 17" is for riders up to around 5'9
It may not be too bad, fit a longer stem and a layback post and you might have enough length. But ride it and see.
It will be hard up hill (but will ultimately get you fitter) and a blast downhill as it will be dead "chuck-able".
Keep it, you might like it.

ive always found a low back end always help with jumping and downhill
Try it. See if it works. Flog it if it doesn't. Buy one of those meerkat toys. Relax.
