I'm sure I recall seeing an article somewhere about a MTB frame with geometry both 26 and 27.5 inch wheels. Or maybe is was just the fork?

Can anyone point me to the right place?

Do you have the larger wheel at the front or the back? 😉

Thanks for the link Andy and the humour Wombat. (Do you remember the Trek 96er? Big wheel at the front is the answer.)
But those aren't the ones I'm looking for.

The Bionicon looks like it has a 27.5 version and a 26 version.
What I recall is (a) a hardtail (b) took both types of wheel. Obviously any 27.5 frame & fork will fit a 26 wheel, but they claimed the geometry was good for both. (Maybe an acceptable compromise?)

Like PratriotPro said the Bansee Rune can be run 26 or 650b by changing the rear drop-out (both supplied) and you can get them for £1300 (without shock).

I've been tempted myself, most, if not all my bits on my G-Spot would transfer over as a 26 and I could 'upgrade' to a 650b spec when funds allow...

But I can't help thinking it would be better one or the other and I can't work out if they're a 26er which will take 650b or vice versa.

My Voodoo Djab will apparently do both. Just 26 at the mo. Finding a 650b fork with a straight steerer is another matter...

Identiti AKA, new Evil Sovereign (which seems to basically be the old Sovereign).

liteville springs to mind for mixed wheel sizes front and back.

Banshee springs to mind for running either 26" or 27.5".

My X-fusion Velvet fork has a straight steerer and will run 26 or 27.5. Unfortunately it is QR so not ideal 🙁

The White Brothers loop works great with 650 and I think 26" foxs work with a ~2.25 (you do need to check that you don't buzz the crown though).

My P7 - ss, rigid 29er forks, and takes both 26 & 27.5.

Thanks guys, I think it was the Eighteen Blacka that I was thinking about.

But I like the Surly Instigator 'Fat bike light' idea...

Cannondale Prophet and Rush frames were designed for 26 inch wheels but can take 27.5 apparently, if you were looking second hand.

I thought the Instigator was more of a heavy weight intended for stuff like drops. At least my original model was - very heavy frame.

My 1x1 is much better IMO, more of a bike for all seasons. Truly versatile. Fit several tyre and wheel sizes 26". 27.5", and 29er, and capable of taking the + sizes tyres for the 26* and 27.5". Stick racks on it and it's the bike you'd pick for the Zombie Apocalypse. It will even take a 3.5" Fat B Nimble in the front.

That said, I have not ridden the new model Instigator.

*It rides really well with the 2.8" Dirt Wizards - better than a standard 29er IMO.
