Hi All,

Been on here for a while, just looking to comeback to mountain biking and to buy myself a new (to me) bike. Just looking for suggestions as to what to look for.

Think i'm probably looking for a good all rounder, probably used, i'm 6ft 4 so it will need to be xl or even xxl, im open to hardtail or full suss. Budget - upto £1500 or so. Been looking at a few Santa Cruz online.

Just looking for any pointers, suggestions etc.

Thanks in advance

on a limited budget.. stay away from Santa Cruz... unless you are looking secondhand..
look at the usual suspects, trek, giant etc etc....
Or.. some really nice british brands, planet x, sonder, bird....
I'm a bird owner and there are some really good value used bikes coming up on the owners group on facebook

Yes I was looking at secondhand santa cruz. Thanks for the suggestions on the British brands. Had heard of planet x but not sonder or bird. Will check them out, also the owners groups

I’d be looking at Hardtails with that budget. Either something from the aforementioned brands or you could get a nicer used bargain with that budget.

I’ve recently purchased a Ti Fireline from Planet X and can’t believe how little I paid for it. Just needed a set of decent tyres and it is a lovely frame. I had some reservations due to their reputation but I had a great experience with them.

I'd be looking at a lightly used Whyte T-130.
