Hi looking to store a couple of bikes ( a gravel bike with 2" tyres and a rigid MTB with 2.8" tyres) vertically on a shed wall. Its a heavy duty shed and they will be in the corner and it's only two bikes so I don't want the fuss of a rail system as nice as they are. I want a couple of those front wheel hook type hangers I think, perhaps those that swivel a bit. My query really is are there any that will take a 2.8 tyre (on a 35mm internal rim)? Looking for decent ish quality but reasonably priced. The ones I've seen on amazon etc look like they aren't really designed for a wide tyre.

Park Tool, hook no 471. That'll take a 3" tyre on a 45mm rim.

Where are you based. I have 8 ones I got from Planet X I no longer need (now on rail). Too heavy to post but yours in exchange for a beer based donation!

Doomanic. That vonhaus thing looks neat. Looks a bit flimsy. Will it take a steel farmed 29’er?

I gave in. Having tried all sorts of racks over the years I waited till Black Friday or some other sale time and bought a pile of steadyracks. The mtb version should work fine with that tyre combo, otherwise if they sit particularly wide they do a fat bike version. Only issue I have is calculating the height offset to allow multiple bikes the same size to sit next to each other.

Blimey, £25?! How solid is it, and how much weight can it hold?

I'm still looking at the exact same thing; on a similar thread there was discussion of Decathlon bike hooks of some sort

Another vote for park tool hooks. I got a load when they were on offer.

I have these:

75mm internal width, so should just fit if your 2.8" is a true 2.8"

Doesn't swivel though, just a basic powdercoated welded steel frame.

It's happily supporting my 26.5kg Rail so unless your HT is made of solid steel bars it’ll be fine.

It maybe difficult to fix to shed wall but I'm liking these clugs  - just keep watching ebay and they turn up cheap https://hornit.com/collections/clug ...using for gravel and fat tyres

Have ordered one of those vonhaus things. Looks like it ought to do the job! Will report back!

I think you'll only get 2 mtbs on the Vonhaus. Bar width will restrict it, especially as all hooks will be at the same height.

At least the fitting instructions are comprehensive 🤣

The Planet X ones can be bent to suit. I have a 27.5 x 2.6 IIRC which fits fine after a little tweak.

The Von Haus rack is actually 3 separate racks so can be spaced as required.

I've finally taken a look at my shed in a "standing bikes up against the wall" way, and am looking again at options. Those Clug holders look excellent.

Has anyone tried these similar (but less attractive) hooks?

Dumb question but for something like that (just holding the wheel upright, not actually hanging the bike weight on it) will screwing it into OSB alone be sufficient? I've got 4 bikes to stand up, and not enough studs behind the OSB to attach them to...

Screw plank to studs at correct height. Screw brackets to plank. Sorted.

I've used the Decathlon ones for years and never had one fail. I find by having the wheels on an angle that I can fit more bikes in as its the bars that takes up more room. Back wheel is on the floor

Aldi was doing the same bike hooks as planet x.

I got bought a rail for Christmas that takes 6 bikes. 6 of the planet x hooks would have been better as I could change height for different bikes.
