Hey. We're off to stay in Keswick in early sept.
Looking for some advice on good routes please. One on the Saturday and on for the Sunday.
We will obviously taking in the Keswick pub life post ride on the Saturday.
A thought was the borrowdale bash ?
Some GPx options so it can be put onto garmins.
We're all experienced riders. So nowt puts us off. Thanks.
The big bash.
Keswick-castlerigg-walla-watendlath-rosthwaite-honister-wharnscale-sail beck-rigg beck-keswick
Skiddaw. Or depending on how much drink you have...several rounds of Whinlatter
Jekkyl.
Is the skiddaw a decent day out with some good climbs and decents ?
No beer ,
What distance is that big bash route please ?
Dunno, probably less than 20, but it's lakes miles.....
The bash is a good old fave 19 miles of lake smiles 4 hours leaving time for a lap of whinlatter and food in Keswick
great day out
The normal bash route that starts in Keswick is just a little short of 20 miles. Going over Walla Crag is cheeky so avoid busy times, but it's definitely more fun than just riding the road.
If you add on going to the top of Honister then going down Warnscale you'll be adding another 5 miles or so and you'll have to go back up Honister from Buttermere too which isn't very nice.

No way I'd go back up honister, to do castle crags, I go over honister in the first place to do something better!.... 😆
Bungalastic. Is that on a gpx for a garmin please.
I read that the boorowdale bash is pretty. Tame. But I suppose 20 miles for a group will be ok. So we're not dead on our feet afterwards for the pub
I've not a gpx of that no as I wouldn't usually include doing warnscale with the bash. I'll have a bash gpx though.
If you wanted a bigger ride (though less miles) you could do the 4 passes and start in seatoller. Do you have to start from Keswick itself. I have a 4 passes gpx

Well it's all natural terrain/bridleways, so don't expect trail centre style berms, drops and jumps. There are a few technical rocky bits that need some care (depending on what you are used to). I'd say those bits are more technically demanding than anything at Whinlatter trail centre. Well worth doing imo.
Its tame in that's in nigh on 20 miles for 2 descents, one which is a wee cracker, and one thats a bit shit.
If you want something more challenging starting from Keswick then you'll have to go more cheeky and do either Grisedale/Whiteless/Rigg Beck or Skiddaw and Ullock Pike.
I've never had any issues riding the NW fells even in holiday periods, better bet than ullock at the weekend tbh.
Pedal out yo braithwaite, up coledale and straight over and down whiteless pike, right along the lovely singletrack at back of rannerdale Knott.
Then up gasgale and onto grisedale pike, descend back to braithwaite.
Great day, awesome views.
I may be biased but could I recommend

Borrowdale, Lonscale Fell and Back o Skiddaw all in here.
Happy to fire you across some GPXs if you email me (in profile).
Have a great weekend!
Buy an OS map too and plan where your going, old fashioned I know, but can actually be good to plan and know where your going next
I'm not a fan of Back of skiddaw, it's a nice enough big loop with nice views, but it's just not really the lakes for me, boggy not rocky, no real descents to speak of.
Another really good one, particularly if the weathers shit, drive to Pooley bridge, only 15-20 mins - Pooley bridge-askham moor-howtown-ullswater bridleway-glenridding-Hartsop-Hayeswater-up toward knott-satura crags-angle tarn-boredale hause-glenridding-UBW-how town, then a wee pedal along the road back to pooley bridge.
