There's a good mechanic in Hyde Park called Re-Cycle Engineering, had bits done there and can't fault them for the price.

Had a couple of really bad experiences with Woodrups that left me without a bike for over a month and still had to take it elsewhere in the end so wouldn't recommend them to be fair.

I actually heard that Crosstrax are pretty good so I wouldn't write them off.

nowt wrong with Crosstrax in my opinion (other than that they were pretty busy)

I've also had good service from ATC out in Saltaire and both from woodrups and garage bikes (woodrups for specialised frame bearing stuff and Al at garage bikes for fox fork servicing)

what is it you need doing?

I own crosstrax and yes we have had some bad feedback and negative comments in the past. But this was due to the two lads who used to work for us up until the end of 2012. But since then with the three new lads working with us. We have had some great feedback and are now super busy in the workshop that we are looking for a new mechanic.
I hope you may consider us and I am sure we would do a great job

Crosstrax are good, can take a while if they're busy, but thats kind of obvious really. Re-cycle are good but not for high end stuff I find, plus pricing is a bit hit and miss sometimes (gear and brake setup on one bike £27, same job on another bike £45) but hey ho, bikology in hyde park seem decent but years ago they damaged my frame (cosmetically) and didn't fess up at the time. No big deal but they couldn't have missed it and went down in my estimation for not mentioning it. Woodrups are mostly ok, but it depends on who you deal with. Stif were crap and over priced for work being done, so no loss there (pretty shop though!), Vertex bikes on whingate seem good, done some bits and pieces for me, and so far so good. Really depends where you are. There's also a newish shop in horsforth run by a fella who used to be on here, who i bought/ sold some bits with a few years back, decent fella and apparently a good shop, though I've not been in yet.

I've used Garage Bikes and can't complain. Job done well and on time with a very reasonable charge.
My used Bike Doctor and said it was good and pretty cheap too.

Re: Crosstrax, I criticised them on here a year or so ago for a dodgy repair/service and Sancho got in touch offline, then called me to set the record straight. He was very clear that the lads who previously worked there, let both his customers and his company down and he was trying to make things up with customers who were caught up in this mess.
[b]Fair play to him, it takes balls to stand up and do that.[/b] If we hadn't moved house I'd have gone back and used them again.

PS I recommended Andy as the OP said he didn't have a car.

I live a lot closer to Crosstrax than Garage Bikes, so will probably go with them or bike doctor,

+1 for both Garage and CrossTrax; Al at Garage built up a road bike for me immaculately right down to getting his girlfriend wife in to wrap the bartape due to her skills wrapping squash racquets.

CrossTrax are my goto local shop, great service, often do wonders at short notice and frequently amaze me with how little money they ask for, they reward loyalty and in return maintain it.

Been using Crosstrax for 6yrs & would highly recommend them.

Also been pleased with All Terrain in Saltaire but that's a bit further out.
