I'm in the Stirling area and got a (probably minor/easy to diagnose/sort) problem with shifting since I fitted a new chain. It was at the upper limit of stretch but not over, so was hoping the cassette was okay, visually it looks alright. Have tried tightening the cable but it's not helping, wondering if I've knocked the mech or something while mucking around with it last weekend. Has anyone got recommendations for a decent mechanic in Stirling area to ask to have a look at it? From googling can see there's a few around but I'm new to the area so any advice on what they're like would be helpful. Cheers.

I don’t think there’s really any bad ones that i am aware of, but FWIW i use Stirling Bike Doctor. Andrew doesn’t do any sales as such, only fixing from the mundane to the seriously high tech.

only ended up using him as when i arrived last year he was the first to pick up the phone and solve the need for a length of gear cable outer.

he’s pretty busy, but in an emergency i am sure will help.

If Tillicoultry counts as Stirling area - then I'm sure Stoo at BikeFlow would get you up and going.

Facebook link Newly set up as a bike repair service (hence Facebook page) but he's pretty handy with his spanners.

Andy at Stirling Bike Doctor is by far the best in the area.

Alloa Cycles.

I had a similar problem whilst in Stirling a few weeks ago and he sorted me right out at short notice and in record time.

Cannot recommend highly enough.

As above

For a drop in, Iain at Bike Works is your best bet - he's off-grid this weekend & opens on Monday at 10.
(Andy the Bike Doctor tends to be booked out weeks ahead).

Alternatively, in town itself: Colin Rae has just opened a new shop. He's been in the business for over 20 years and will be happy to help you.
