Just recieved an 2010 bike purchased off ebay. Delivered well packed in a LBS bike box. Bike advertised fork and shock serviced by Mojo and regular sevice by LBS.
It arrived with no air in the shock and most/all of the fork oil in the box, there was enough room to leave at least 2" of air in.
I asked the question why there would be no air at all in the cartridge and was told the LBS did it to fit in the box. The forks are holding pressure, but to make sure and for peace of mind, I have asked for the mojo receipt. I have been told the service was done in 2011 through LBS and no MOJO receipt. I have asked for them to provide a receipt from the LBS just to say it was done. Their not sure they can get one!
Am I a cynical moaning bastard? The mechanics are ok and apart from a ripped seat and a "few scratches" being cleaned with an angle grinder its as described.
fork oil in the box? I wouldn't ride that fork.
if it was advertised as serviced by mojo and it wasn't I'd be very wary of the workmanship.
Sounds as though they're trying to pass off a cheap service from a local shop as serviced by Mojo!
I'd definitely want the fork stripping and checking if it's dumped its oil out. I can understand them letting the air out the rear shock and so long as it operates when blown up I'd probably give it a go but would be happier if I could see the service receipt.
even if there was a service recipt. there is a lack of oil in the fork....
I'd be dubious, it's not as advertised at best. Send it back whence it came!
return to sender ..fork oil in the box sounds bad... seriously no air to fit the fork in the box?
If it's a U-turn rockshox fork it could have been left upside down and the fork oil has leaked out of the U-turn side.
I can add oil, its holding air and the rebound and sag and lock out are ok.
They sent me a text that outlined local bike shop said "Im not going to have a receipt for the servicing work I'm afraid. I know you had a fork and shock service and new uppers as the stanchions had a lot of wear. I dont think there was anything else done with them"
Stanchions do look mint but including something in a text is hardly proof of the past
If it all works and you got it for a good price, I wouldn't worry.
Fox 32 RL, A 2011 receipt is a separate issue really but im it makes me question their honesty if it can't be produced.
Price was going rate, the MOJO service swung it, I pressumed it had just been serviced but thats my fault, pressumtion is the mother of all....
A reciept from LBS and £30 for new oil would be good. Just the receipt and I will keep hold as its as described

Why, would you keep a receipt for that long?
The only ones I do are for my car/motorbike, as evidence of history when I come to sell - it gets me a better price. But I wouldn't trust anyone else, unless they had receipts - and in the post the OP never said that it'd been advertised with receipts.

I agree to a point but I wouldnt advertise something i could'nt back up otherwise how the hell would you know. If it hadn't spewed the oil I wouldnt press for it.
phone the lbs - they must know the rider and bike and what they've done on/to it?
Just send it back
Service was done in 2011? well if I am correct its now 2013. Quite a long time to be keeping a service receipt. Some people throw that stuff out immediately.
Phoning up the LBS? "er excuse me do you remember some bloke who came in 2 years ago with a fork to service?" risk of looking like a nob for nothing.
Its a fairly old bike the fork holds air, so why not just refill oil and see how it goes?
Quick tip - When the fork is serviced by mojo through lbs they generally put a sticker around the fork steerer, take the fork out of the headtube and check it out, should be date plus lbs name
Because its £800, Their LBS knows them as they have bought two bikes off them since and this one wasnt used after early 2012. I will see what they come back with and fill with oil. Its not mine its for the wife to replace the stolen one so wanted to minimise possible problems.
It's a bit cheeky though, advertising something as "serviced" if it was serviced two years ago, even if it's true that the service happened.
EDIT: Although a bit less cheeky if it's also true that the bike hasn't been used in a year I suppose
I used to empty the air from my fork when flying, drop the stanctions into the lowers to protect everything.
It was probably a better descision for the LBS to empty it all rather than leave enough pressure for 2" of stanction showing.. whereby, excitedly you jump on it for a carpark spin with only part of the pressure you need to ride it and end up blowing the fork up.
As far as the oil.. wheres it leaking from?
If its a fox.. i wouldn't go about 'filling it' with oil.. you may as well do a seal and oil change, otherwise you'll not know how much oil you're putting in.. gives you a chance to see what condition the forks are in and if the remaining oil you drain is fresh, your service concerns should be alleviated!?

When you go to buy a car that is advertised as 'serviced', you wouldn't hand over your money until you'd seen evidence - but you seem to have done here...
caveat emptor
Thats the beauty of paypal my friend and is why im seeking a bit of confirmation so I can believe the rest of the story. I have asked for the LBS name and contact and I will deal with the fork/ oil leak.
Ram raid the shop with a tank, that'll show em!
Wtf has it got to do with the shop , its not them that sold the bike
If the fork has not been touched since 2011 I would want to have it apart anyway
