Do you guys who work in the bike shop industry know when bike parts, clothing etc will start to come back in stock?
I understand that things are a bit different right now with the pandemic, more people taking up riding last year (which is a good thing) and Brexit. These have all led to stock being reduced and will take some time to bring back the stock levels, I was just wondering roughly when this will be.
I have been keeping an eye out for several parts/clothes for a while but they have all been out of stock for quite a while. At the moment the main things are an XT 12 speed rear derailleur and riding shoes (multiple brands), I managed to get some brake pads from AliExpress which turned up after a couple of weeks.
Thanks in advance for anyone who has some info.
Next Julember. Probably around the 35th.
Product is coming into the UK all the time. The problem is everything that's coming in is already on backorder to ship to retailers. There won't be free stock of the brake pads I checked today for my bike until mid-June.
Merlin had full Shimano groupsets in - been waiting for ages for those!
Getting shimano orders right now is a lottery even as a bike shop and we have no realistic indication of when things will get back to normal. We have been scrabbling to find other distributors to get stuff we need, often from the continent and sometimes further afield.
i wasnt too fussed about the lack of stuff available, until i found out my Norco Optic frame has broken and its off for (hopefully) a warranty repair. God knows how long that will take, so i though i would check my options for a fill-in frame or something new.... no chance! Woe is me!!
I ordered a Ribble CGR 725 before Xmas, with an indicated build date of Jan 29th, had an email update from them yesterday with a revised build date of May 31st!
Was expecting a delay of some description but 26 weeks from point of order is a bit of a bummer! I cant decide if I should wait it out or try and find something else (with the inevitable trip to the back of the queue!).
does anyone know if the German online places are managing to get goods through? What i want isn't available from the UK at the moment (Hayes DA4 brakes), but appear to be in stock in the fatherland, they are also ridiculously cheaper than the rrp..

That's better than many brands can manage. If it's what you really want, stick with it.

If you select UK as your country are they just knocking off the VAT/sales tax?
EDIT yes, it says 'tax free' on it. Shimano Ultegra rotors are 33 € but when I change the location to DE they are 39 €. But it says 15 € handling charge! Not sure if that's each or per order. And the same is £44 on Wiggle.
Two rotors, delivery and UK VAT at 20% (is this right) from bike-discount.de comes to the same as two rotors and free delivery from Wiggle. But that's not counting import duty and handling fee at UK customs. So it does not appear to be a good deal.

Are you in the UK, finding a De shop who will sell to the UK is an issue due to VAT changes.

Check the small print, as of a couple of days ago, no orders to the UK under c175euro.

on the contrary, and as moly pointed out, there is a VAT difference and delivery difference to think of, but it is clearly pointed out on the website they can ship, but are not responsible for VAT and import taxes if applied. What I’m not sure of though, is in practice has anyone ordered and actually received product since Brexit?
Even at 4% tariff and 20% VAT it’s still way cheaper, and more importantly in stock.. DHL Processing fees on large commecial shipments are ~£45 (still works out cheaper) - but not sure if that is being applied. Im half in mind to get one of our drivers to pick some bits up next time they are over..
just seen the reference to the min order value;
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
For customers from Great Britain (except Northern Ireland) the following conditions apply:
For customers from Great Britain there is a minimum order value of 175 GBP incl. shipping costs. Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to ship complete bicycles and bulky goods to the UK.
National sales tax as well as customs & Import fees:
Deliveries to Great Britain are net, i.e. without national sales tax. This tax is then due on import. If United Kingdom is selected as the country of delivery, the prices are displayed in the shop without sales tax.
In addition to the shipping costs calculated by Bike-Discount, additional import costs may apply. These are usually about any import duties and national sales tax.
