You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My son and his mates (14-15y) are now too good to be seen pootling the Blues and easy Reds at BPW with me. They aren't crazy risk takers, but are progressing and want to push on. I don't fancy/have the ability to do harder stuff. Website suggests u17 need to be accompanied by an adult at all times on trail/uplift. Whilst this seems very sensible, what do others do in this situation?
Do uplift together, let them ride what they want on way down, meet at bus, keep fones charged for comms. Obvs this is strictly not allowed..
I'd do that ^^
My kid is nice enough to just do the stuff I'm capable of, but when I was injured he went up and did a run on his own, no problem (we weren't actually aware of the 'must be accompanied' rule.)
If there are two of them and the both have phones and ride together then i'd be comfortable with that as a parent. Just meet them on uplift etc.
Just do it quietly and accept your not meant to...
Obviously you or one of them may have a crash, that's just MTB/DH... so have your story straight just in case.
Last time this happened it was me that crashed and then 9yr old looking for me... but lucky I was with friends and they sent down their 9yr old to tell him 😀
Unless, of course, one (or both) of them spacks themselves up, then you're potentially leaving a 14 year old on a trail to deal with it.
No problem with that, tbh, as long as you have a talk about what to do in the event of an emergency beforehand...

Or see above... in my case I ended up dislocating my shoulder and my 9yr old was off shredding expecting me at the uplift. So as in general always good to have a plan, even if you're just with mates... but if you're doing something a bit cheeky all the more reason to have a plan/story
Don't think you need a story @stevextc - like you're trying to get away with it. If someone hurts themselves who cares what the park thinks?
What you need is a plan to make sure kids, who can easily panic if shit hits the fan, get off the hill safely. (Even if they're better than you).
Your other option is to ride the harder stuff. There's nothing too difficult in the red/black territory apart from 50 Shades and some of the pro line bits.

Thanks all..very helpful.
