My local dh trails are pretty wet, leafy, loose and muddy right now and my current front tyre favourite is a 2.3 3C Shorty. I'm off to BPW on 28th, am I going to be skating around like Torvill and Dean on crack with the Shorty? I've never been so I have no idea of what the trails are like, although at a guess I reckon the surface will be fairly solid, trail centre style? Do they have more 'natural' runs too? Sorry for the thinly disguised 'what tyre' thread.

Conti Vert Pros obviously.

That aside, there's some 'natural' ish stuff such as Half Cut, but most of it is fairly well armoured for all year durability.

I'd not recommend a Shorty for BPW, not great on hard pack. If you like Maxxis go for something like a DHF or DHR2 on the front.
Best combination I've run there for grip and rolling resistance was a DHR2 front/Griffin rear both ST, dual ply, tubeless.

Yeah I don't really want to run the Shorty for that exact reason Steve, but can I be arsed to change it out for one day is the question? I'll see how I feel nearer the time I think! Cheers.

Run what you run for any other trail centre. The muddiest track is either 50 shades or dai hard and theyre not that bad.

I'm there on Sunday
Was gonna swap out my shorty/ vigilante for either a trail king or ibex up front (prefer the onza, but I'd like to keep it nice for any dry races I might ght one day get to do) and a Hans on n the back

HR2/DHR2 front and a semi slick on the back, like the Minion SS. Don't need much braking grip over there and the extra rolling speed is worth it.

Chunky monkey on the front and rock razor supergravity on the rear. Every time I risk a non downhill casing on the rear, I destroy a tyre or rim or both.
