Booked an uplift day at bike park Wales and my only bike is a hardcore hardtail singlespeed
Do I
A, hire a bike and make the most of the day
B, ride my SS an use it to improve my day to day skills
Route wise I'll be doing upper blues and lower reds, I don't have the nerve or ability to be getting anywhere near the blacks
It should be fine, as only a few pedally sections. Ifyou don't want to smash the blacks and have a jumpy day I wouldn't bother - ride what you are used to.
Will you be using uplift?
Just change the gearing on your ss as you'll not be doing any climbing.
You only need to pedal on the short climb on the rightmost trails so the number of speeds doesn't really matter. Suspension is a bigger factor but not a huge deal. The runs are downhill but in an xc trail centre style
Singlespeed it is then
Is BPW blacks harder than blacks at most typical trail centre e.g. Gisburn or Llandegla?
I had a great day at BPW on a fully rigid 29er ss . take your bike and enjoy it.....
It's largely a pedal free zone, pump & enjoy.
Yep singlespeed will be fine! The top of some of the trails are a bit pedally but you'll be ok.
Grannyjone, they're a fair bit harder than Llandegla black, which I've found is pretty easy as far as black's go. You can expect compulsory gaps and drops on all the black trails.
The reds are a closer comparison I'd say.

Not necessarily - some of the shorter runs further down the hill (i.e. Pork Belly, Deep Navigation, Coal Not Dole, Zut Alors (I think, from memory)) are well worth a go - they're just generally a bit steeper and rockier than the reds. Proceed with a bit of caution on your first run down them and you'll be fine..
I run my hardtail 100mm front suspension at BPW on all runs blue, red, black all rideable even jump sections just at slower speeds - still great fun
