Has to be a weekday due to lack of uplift spaces at the weekend, but if anyone fancies a day out, Mrs Weeksy would be much happier with me being with someone rather than on my own.

I'm going from Newbury area if you want/need a lift..

On a scale of 1-10 I found the reds there about an 8... .the blues a 5.

Any that anyone else can make mate.

Because of the nature of the place, if I tell Mrs Weeksy i'm going alone she'll freak.... but if i'm meeting some lads, all will be good.

Weds are probably best for me in general but I could realistically fall in with whatever was good for everyone and get the wife to WFH to pick our lad up from wherever.

doesn't have to be immediately, just want something to look forward to and had a blast there at the weekend.

Partial hijack, sorry

I have an uplift day booked at the end of the month. Very excited.

The guys I am going with are all buying body armour and full face lids for the day due to a note on their web site (which I cannot find) indicating that this is recommended.

What is the consensus of people that have been previously? I have a Xar and knee pads that have served me well. Is it worth investing in some extra kit? My 'trail centre' experience is only Swinley, Gisburne, The 2 quarries and Afan due to preferring natural stuff mostly.

What do you wear?

I bought one on Sat as everyone else had one on. I feel happy with my decision. I was also wearing a 661 sub lightweight armour top. I didn't NEED any of them as I never lobbed it... but I can't promise I won't crash next time.

The Reds are slightly but not ridiculously harder than Afans reds, rocky and 'techy' rather than massive jumps/drops though, there are a couple of rock jumps, but they're 24" or so rather than massive ones.

the Blues are built by the same guy as who built the new Swinley, they're similar, but faster due to the incline of the mountain... again, nothing too technical.

Thanks Weeksy.

I have my eye on the 661 Sub Gear top too. Full face now on the list.

I guess if its the norm there I don't want to be the only guy without the proper kit and be the guy that looks like a peeled tomato half way through the day due to a silly off.

Ooh, what size? More importantly, does it smell like my old Arai from my m/c days? If so I'm out.

I've just seen its a large, but tight. To be honest I would like to try one on rather than commit from a description. Again experience from m/c days, 2 helmets can be the same size with very different fits.

My mate has a Specialized dealership. I will see if he has any similar in stock.

I only rode the blues n reds but never felt it any worse than a red at a trail centre. I wore my normal lid n knee pads as did everyone else in our group. The majority of others seemed to be wearing similar, but I suppose at the end of the day you need to wear what you feel comfortable in, which is difficult having never been.

It an awesome place though and wish I could join you all, unfortunately work will scupper that idea!

Might be up for the 22nd or 29th. My usual riding buddy has torn some cartilage in his knee, so looks like surgery and off the bike for 6-9 months.

I'd be on the blues, maybe the easier reds if I took a big dose of MTFU. I'm slow, fat and unfit mind. And only wearing a normal lid and no padding. I've got enough of that. 😉

Strictly speaking we don't all need to be doing the same run at the same time. They all meet at the bottom.

Apparently is away this Wednesday coming up an awards thing for work. So the week after is looking better, along with better weather. So yeah, how does the 29th work for everyone?

29th sounds plausible for me at the moment. Could really do with another northerner to share transport with though - I would be driving from Hebden Bridge with space for a couple more people and bikes.

Room for a little one? I've been wanting to go to BPW for a while, my riding buddy has dislocated his shoulder playing on the monkey bars with his 5 year old nephew (my cousin is made of glass) so I have no friends at the minute 😥
I'd have to have a word at work regarding getting it off but shouldn't be a bother.

I've been offered an uplift pass for the 30th. I don't think I could manage two days on the bounce. I don't have enough brownie points in the bank. So I'm out this time.

Booked, 2 spaced left.

Be aware guys you WILL get on a bus even without booking, but you may have to wait for a full one, but seems to be every 10 mins or so. So not long to wait. £4 an uplift.

Hey that sound promising - I am in Hebden Bridge so not too far away. Would definitely be good to share petrol costs (especially if I don't have to drive 🙂 ).

I was just considering getting a B+B/bunkhouse the night before though as we'd need to set off horribly early to make it there for 9.15!

Hebden Bridge is pickuppable from . I had been thinking about heading down the night before too Grum, wanting to keep costs as low as possible so a no frills BnB or Youth Hostel could be a good idea. Do you, or anyone else, know of any around there? Or even a cheap one that's an hours drive/ on the way, just so, like you say, we're not setting off at daft'o'clock. If it's gonna cost more than 30 quid for the night i'd prefer to drive, tight bastard that i am.

Excellent - or I could get myself to Huddersfield if Hebbers isn't on the way.

I feel similar really about paying for accommodation. There's this place nearby which I saw recommended on another thread - http://www.breconbeaconsbunkhouse.co.uk/rates/

What bikes are we all riding by the way? I'll be on a Specialized Pitch (with 36 Vans and coil shock). Dunno why I'm interested but I am. 🙂

I ran a pair of Nevegals, 29er obviously, they were fine and dandy.

TBH i'd rekon dual ply would be excessive... but I don't know how Gnar and rad you are 🙂 They're a bit rocky on the reds, but they're slabs rather than sharp stones.

In any given situation I shralp 110% of the available radness with my gnarpoon.

Once I got like 3-4 inches of air.

Ok I've booked it - seems like we can pay cash on arrival, and we can turn up whenever.

Looks like we can probably have seperate rooms unless a load more people book in - probably for the best once we each find out how weird the other is. 🙂
