Looking for a quick bit of advice, heading to BPW for the first time on Thursday and at some point was hoping to link up sixtapod and willy waver but at the minute willy waver is closed so there looks to be two red to choose from, rim dinger and watts occurring now i should be able to do these but I'm heading there with my brother in law whos not been on his bike for well over a year and id say blues are his limit (maybe mine as well!) So if willy waver is still shut whats yhe easiest way down from the end of sixtapod?

Rim Dinger is pretty straightforward if you just take it slow. Can't actually remember anything about Watts Occurring

If you brother in law hasn't been on his bike in a bit, wouldn't it be worth starting small and getting back into it on a blue or two first before moving on to something a bit more spicy?
I was there the weekend before last with a bunch of friends who go once or twice a year. Most of us are parents, and typically we pick a couple of blues for the first runs to get our eyes back in. If you're paying for a day's uplift and riding all the way through, a warm up on something relatively easy is generally a good idea. Equally, we'll tend to go for something a bit more chilled for the last run of the day as we're getting tired. Typically we do Blue, then a couple of reds, then maybe a red/black for giggles, then back down some reds at a more decent pace. YMMV, but maybe better to warm up first than chuck your poor BIL down something that he might get out of shape on.

We went there a few weeks ago on xc bikes, riding the climb, and in Lycra/clipped in, so we mainly stuck to blues.
Favourite top to bottom runs were:

Melted Welly into Bluebelle into Bushwhacker.
Terrys Belly

We did Sixtapod about four or five times but then rode back up to the top again.

Rim dinger is the easier of the 2 as mostly rock gardens. Pretty sure both have unavoidable drops (you of course can get off and walk over/round them) with Watts occurring having a couple of reasonably sized ones.

Just turn left up the fire road for a short bit and jump on Bluebelle. If he's not confident on the reds you don't really want him coming off and ruining his day.

Thanks for the replies, sorry should have said we'll be sticking to blues but it was just for when we do sixtapod for a way down afterwards. Choppersquad i did think about heading to bluebelle but wasnt sure of the distance along the fire road but that sounds like the sensible option.

The jumpy black down that bottom bit is pretty easy at a low pace, watch out for fast guys coming up behind you though

Do bluebell first then terrys belly and then look at the reds.

It's only about a three minute climb up the fire road.
I know it's common sense but on the hottest day of the year take plenty to drink (stash it at the top where the uplift drops you off?). It might all be downhill but you'll sweat buckets. Have fun.

Well we survived bike park wales!

Great day out but the heat was fearsome, the uplift vans/truck were torture but id rather be tortured for 10 minutes than try and cycle up the hill in that heat, if you can beleive the car it was 32/33 when we left about half four.
I dont get out on the bike as much as id like but id say i learnt more yesterday than i have in years of pootling along at home. Also glad I hired a bike, first time of a full suspension bike and it made such a difference to my knees id hate to see what state theyd be in today with my hardtail (more due to my lack of skill than anything)

Just need to see when we can visit the brother in law again 🙂
