You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So, i've a possible two days on / off road riding planned with an overnight stop in a bunk house. No need (at present) to carry camping stuff, but would like to take some kit to layer with (early morning starts / late evening finishes both days).
For luggage i'm considering:
Ortileb Ultimate 6 S handle bar bar (cos i have one - might drive me mad with its rattling off road though).
A fuel pod of some sort for food to grab on the go.
A seat pack for clothing layers, stuff to keep me warm off the bike.
I don't think i'll get on with a frame bag, i fitted a small cheap one once, but the first few pedal strokes & my knees were brushing the bag & that'd drive me mad.
My bike is a small, 49cm Kona CX bike, i don't have a lot of seat post extension due to my short legs & was wondering if i'd find a seat pack to fit???

The above photos show clearance with 33c tyres, i'd be using 40c tyres for the ride, so will loose a bit more clearance.
If i go down the seat pack route, i'd like it to be waterproof, mid-range (£60-70) & to act as a mudguard.
Something like the Madison Caribou had caught my eye.
Any tips or advice from the bike packing veterans?
I have a Revelate Pika which I was about to suggest but looked it up and it needs 8 inches from the rails to the tyres so would be a bit tight.
Look at the Arkel Tailrider bag and seatpost rack. It's a solid fit - herself had one for TuscanyTrails and it stayed fixed properly and stayed waterproof- it was extremely heavy rain.
My wife has similar problems and uses the Alpkit Koala 7. Seven litres (clue is in the name) and needs 15cm saddle to wheel. For bigger loads she has an Arkel Randonneur seat rack.
Have a look at a Bridge Street saddlebag bag.

Thanks all. I've taken a punt on the Porcelin Rocket, Tess, that fudge9202 posted. Its not waterproof, but i'll try it with a Lomo lightweight dry bag inside. Auburn have a few PR seat packs & frame bags at half price if anyone else needs one.
👍
I bought on recommendation from another thread. Mines due to arrive this week so hopefully as good as the recommendation
👍 I've also brought https://www.lomo.co.uk/acatalog/3pack-ultralight-dry-bags.html#SID=117 to ensure contents stay dry. Not sure if I'll use the one big bag or two small, until I play with the seat pack loading a bit.
Porcelain Rocket seatpack arrived today , lovely well made item and a nice compact size.
Looking forward to getting out with it.
