Any better ideas than an ardent 26x2.4 for the rear wheel of my frankenbikepacker?

I've taken a mk1 cotic soul and popped a salsa fork up front with a 27.5+ 3.0 WTB Bridger. Guess I'm hoping to go as big as I can at the back while still rolling OK but not sure what would be a good pairing with the front end.

Plan on doing some bike packing up around the cairngorms once winter releases its grip.

WTB Ranger 2.8 in the back?, but you'll have to measure up carefully.

I think 2.4 is the biggest that'll fit unfortunately.

Bontrager XR2 or XR3, probably the former to go with the Bridger. Go up tubeless dead easy. Roll really well and have surprising grip - my wife was running Bridger/XR2 combo on her Stooge this weekend and given the slop she managed surprisingly well.

Are those bonty tyres available in 26 flavour any more?

Hmm, doesn't look like it now you mention it, only XR0 and XR Mud in 26" nowadays. A pity.

2.35 rock razor would be my choice, faster rolling than the ardent (2.4 ardent knobs are much bigger than on the 2.25) and a similar volume.
