I have been keeping an eye on a bike from Planet X for a while hoping it’s going to be reduced (again) at some point soon. One came up on eBay at a fair bit below list. I messaged the seller to arrange a look at it but before I’d got the full address he pulled the ad and stopped replying. I assumed someone had bought it. Just gone on eBay again and its back but £100 dearer! It’s still at a decent price but I’m a bit mixed about following it up now. WWSTW do?

Offer £100 less, if they say no then walk away.

Get a mate to offer £300 less. When you come in with £100 less he is more likely to think he has gained £200

Time waster....walk away no good is likely to come of it

Or offer him 100 quid less than your previously agreed price for the hassle of him being a ****

He probably realised he had underpriced it.

Most of us would probably just suck it up, but seller could be struggling for cash so don't be hasty to judge.

The value of bikes isn't related to the purchase price, so if it's the one I wanted, I'd pay the extra one hundred quid.

Seller has done nothing wrong, nobody has purchased so they can do what they want with the item they are selling.
You only emailed to look at it so made no commitment. Not sure why he pulled and relisted though as could have just changed the price but maybe he took advantage of a lower fees offer.

I personally would take your offer though as selling bikes and bike parts at this time of year is an instant loss anyway.

Are eBay running a lower seller fee promo? That’s the most likely outcome I should imagine.
