LMTTM Junior is at that stage where the pram is getting less use but Daddies shoulders are getting used more!

Looking at transportation by bike* so looking at seat options. Would be nice if I can take him off-road as well.

Any recommendations?

* obviously this will require a new bike 😉

Love our Hamax seat. Clamps onto the seat tube. Has a small amount of flex so cushions the wee lad but, wouldn't take him on anything but road/footpath. You'd be surprised how much they bob about in it.

WeeRide comes recommended by allot of this shire.
sandwicheater jnr out for a bimble.

My boy on the first ride in his Weeride. It's easy to take on & off and will fit on nearly any bike.

Got a Hamax which has been great, but does bounce around a lot. If I was buying now though I'd probably get a WeeRide. More pannier friendly too.

Up to what age to people use the weeride? (obviously child size varies)

I stick one or both of mine in a trailer and tow it, not sure my son would fit on a child seat (2.5) but my daughter (1.5) prob would, but she's quite small and he's huge

Just started using a Weeride with my 11 month old. It's great but having to cycle with knees apart will restrict it to pretty short rides really, though I need to try it on my other bike to see if it's better (and whether the passenger appreciates full-suss comfort)!

weeride.

the youngest doesnt like the back seat at all. splat hat knocking on the chair is a significant issue for her by all accounts. maybe its just my pedalling style, or the fact we were going uphill, or she may have been hungry...

wee ride is great. perfect for taking them on teh old big dog course around stanmer.

my 2.5yr old fits int eh wee ride - shes huge... not much growing room.

you get used to the knees thing.

Top-tube mounted seat aged 1-2:

then upgraded to Hamax rear seat:

Which suits up to about age 3.

Then its back onto the top tube with a Leco seat:

whilst learning skills on the balance bike of course.

At age 4 its onto the tagalong to build up some strength for pedalling properly:

Once on the pedal bike at 5ish, the trail-gator gets used to tow uphill

and before you know it, they're off on their own and you're starting again...

I also have a hamax, great stuff and not that expensive from halfords - eldest goes to nursery on it in the mornings with me and has been out in all weathers, it's a great way to toughen them up 🙂

ir_bandito, you win the internet today.

What beach are you on with the tagalong?

letmetalktomark - Picked our Hamax up from ebay. Plenty about and for £20 you can't grumble.

Yeah, those are nice pictures.

Problem for me is that I have two kids, and I rarely go out with just one of them. I'm usually out on my own with them as the dog gets a run round my local park at the same time.

Wife comes along on my other bike every now and then, could use baby seats then I suppose

Trailer comes with lots of practical benefits (rain, wind, cold, eating, drinking, storage etc), just hard to do the narrow stuff and don't want to go on the road with it

Thanks all - will get googling the Hamax ones.

What sort of age are they okay up to?

Silly question but do they mark/ damage the ST at all?

Looking at building an OO Inbred SS so not too bothered more curious.

Ir_Bandito - most awesome 8)

What beach are you on

Port Scolpaig on North Uist

Advantage of the 4-year age gap between the two boys is the eldest can pretty much take care of himself, makes it easier to for me to carry the youngest.

Still very tempted to splash out on a Circe Helios or similar.

(pic off google - not my family!!)

not that I've noticed.

I have dinged the top tube of one of my bikes with the Leco seat, so wouldn't advise it on a thin aluminium frame...

we have the hamax for the nursery run child a hefty 32 months now and still useable for what is a very short ride he appears to enjoy it and from his running commentaries see plenty of interest aside from my back.
