any recommendations on bike locks? i've got a "strong room" built onto the garage with an anchor point and i'm after a robust lock to secure my bikes; one mountain bike and one rood bike.

looking to spent up to £70

cheers

Spend more... what's the point in a £70 lock if it gives £10 protection ?

I have an Almax Series IV to go round my main frames & thru the ground anchor, and a number of other locks (u-bolt/cables) to secure the other component together (wheels/forks)

Also consider the slightly cheaper (haven't checked lately TBH) Pragmasis ltd

PS: Yes these are slightly 😉 more than your budget.. for good reason!

Pragmasis here too. I use mine wherever I lock my bike when I'm leaving it somewhere all day.

I was lucky enough to get mine as a reasonable 2nd hand bargain.
13mm chain links are reckoned IIRC to be the smallest worth buying, 16mm for the ultimate, and so you pay for that extra security.
Spend as much as you can, remember you only need to do this once and then keep it for years (mine over 5 years old, so the cost is negligible long term).. some of the price difference is due to the length, you only really need the shortest you can get away with. You want it short to minimise a thief's ability to manoeuvre the chain/lock into a position (near the ground for leverage?) they can attack it more easily.

PS: I had issue fitting my 16mm chain links through a std kyrptonite ground anchor (torc's are better), it worth bearing this in mind

Almax 16mm chain here. Worth it's weight in gold, and it's bloody heavy 😆
My anchor is bolted to the wall so the chains (2 of them) are off the floor.

19mm here, was expensive but I could use it if I ever buy an ocean liner

Opps yes the series IV is 19mm... maybe it's 16mm not 13mm that should be the basic option. I remember asking a guy at another office to pick it up for me (2m x 19mm)... the whole office was shocked that I only wanted it lock my bicycles up!

Eh? Do wot?

If your talking about a poundland coil bike lock with combination lock, then yes it's not difficult to open... hence not recommending those, but are recommending lock more usually used to lock up motorcycles.
