Im trying to decide which bike lock to get to lock up my bike outside Huddersfield university. Ive decided its not best to take the five so have sourced an unused old saracen for the commute.
Any recommendations? id like to carry it with me so nothing to heavy.
I use an Abus Bordo for my commuter, it isn't the lightest of locks but it is easy to carry as the holder fixes to bottle mounts.
I use Kryptonite New York series locks. Not cheap, mind. You'd have to go some to get through the bugger though… I use it alongside a cable for the wheels.
I have of these HipLock
easy to carry and been great so far
+1 on the HipLock - simple and strong plus portable
Half-price Kryptonite New York: http://uk.ebid.net/for-sale/kryptonite-new-york-3000-std-nyl-u-lock-with-flexframe-bracket-thatcham-cat-3-93536383.htm
It does weigh a ton, but just leave it on the bike rack where you're parking. I lug it about somtimes, it's not that bad, but the bracket is a waste of time. I did a fair bit of research, big D lock through the rear triangle is no guarantee but the best you can realistically do. With that beast I have no worries leaving my ratty commuter most places.
I have a Kryptoite New York, seems good enough to put off any billy burglars.
I use one of these for locking up at shops/commute etc..
