Rarely do. Got a cheap dhb gilet for if its cold.

Had a Mavic wind proof one that was the weirdest fit ever.

Pearl Izumi Elite and Select softshells. Obviously not at the same time.

Also have a Mavic Rainride thingo for the showers.

All excellent pieces of kit, but the softshells have made riding in the winter something I enjoy opposed to endure.

I've had an Endura e-vent jacket for what must be over 3 years now. It gets worn pretty much every day for commuting, mountain biking and road riding and it's been fantastic.

No damage to it despite me having a few falls since I've owned it and it's still waterproof despite never being re-treated.

I couldn't find a single bad word to say about it.

I'm on my second Showers Pass Elite jacket. First one (Elite 2.0) lasted me over four years of very frequent use and regular washing/re-proofing. New one (Elite 2.1) is much improved. It's the most vented, waterproof jacket I've ever seen. Highly recommended.

I got a Nike Gore Tex jacket from TK Max a few years back and its still going strong. Was out in it 2 nights ago in -5 and only a t-shirt underneath.

Personally I wouldn't buy a winter jacket without pit zips.

Road: Champion club windshell or Pearl Izumi elite convertible.
Off road: Very cheap running waterproof from Regatta made of "X-ert". It has taped seams, fold down wired hood and packs up into a pocket witha belt. Think it was about £40 and has been brilliant.

Endura convert II for me. Does the job and the bonus of tuning into a gillet for the summer months.

mountain equipment fire fox for me! Packs down into a very small stuff sack. Made from goretex active shell which seems pretty good so far, nice and breathable, properly waterproof but feels quite tough considering how light it is. Lifetime warranty too!

I wore it on a snowy ride today, with 2 base layers on underneath i was toasty!

An old Howies Outback jacket for not freezing conditions and an old Howies Cross Jacket for colder days. Both fantastic and I hope I can find replacements when they eventually wear out!

3year old Endura Convert 2 for nearly everything with an 18 month old Endura MT500 for the truly horrible days. Happy with both and both still good as new.

I only wear one when its really cold (like today)... a Surface Windjamma. It's not the most technical jacket but is pretty cheap, scrunches up pretty small etc and doesn't look too geeky.

Failing that I just wear a jersey or base layer with a cheap decathlon jacket. I did buy a Royal Alpine soft shell jacket in the CRC summer sake but its way too thick to ride in, so it just gets worn as a normal jacket.

Rain = Mountain Equipment Morpheus, with various layers underneath depending on weather.
Cold = used to be a Dare2B soft shell, but the cut is weird and it's poorly made. For anything below 0 and windy I'll now be wearing my Montane Prism and a merino baselayer, might get myself a Montane Dyno for slightly warmer dry rides.

Unless proper wet requiring a shell :

Above 10 degrees - jersey
5 - 10 degrees - gore phantom, zip off sleeves if warm
Below 5 degrees - endura stealth

Mavic Stratos H2O that I picked up 'cheap' in the Jan sales from Ribble. Fits perfectly and wonderfully made.

Endura Stealth when it's really cold and a Bonty Softshell over a merino base layer when it's merely bloomin freezing.

Tomorrow all of the above 😉

Montane featherlite for stuffing in a pocket. Paramo vista for cold and wet and a Fuera smock otherwise.

tried a altura mayhem on this morning. very nice, but the material feels very flimsy and unwaterproof like.

Altura Attack for rainy days
Montane featherlight velo for light showers/cooler days
Rab Generator Smock for sub 3 degrees.

Have tried the below as I own them but found all too warm for riding,
Paramo Adventure Light (Long Myndd for half day in torrential rain)
Paramo Fuera
Buffalo Special 6 (sub zero day riding deep snow atop Long Myndd)
Rab softshell windproof. (forgot my riding jacket at Cannock it was cold so wore my 'everyday' jacket)
