I know Bikmo does it, but it's expensive. They cover a lot of situations though so I see why, but also might be a bit of a premium markup on it.

Any other options with this particular feature?

No idea, but I've got an add on to my car insurance for it, I'm with Adrian Flux, can't remember who the underwriter is. Maybe try it from that end? Added about £25 to the policy if I remember right.

Direct line select as long as it’s locked and covered. Bikes covered without naming.   Never tested

Seems crazy that most policies cover the bike if locked to the bike rack that is locked to the car, provided the locks/chains are good enough, but not inside the car.

pedalcover

Just don't try and claim, and certainly don't take up thier [s]lies[/s] dodgy excess insurance scheme.

I've claimed from Pedalcover, after my bike was damaged in a hit-and-run.

The claims handler was a bit rubbish (he's moved on now), but it was generally acceptable and the payout was quite reasonable.

Do you want to tell us more about your experience?

Most insurers won't cover the bike if it's locked to your bike rack either. I take mine off and lock it to something solid if I'm going to be any length of time away from them.

Pedalcover also had bikes in vehicles as a specific exclusion for me.

"locked and covered"

Be careful what's defined as "covered".

A mate had a bike nicked out of his car. It was a typical mid-size MPV/SUV/hatch thing, seats down and the luggage cover and blanket covering the bike.

The insurance company were refusing the claim on the basis that to meet their definition of covered it had to be fully in the boot, which is obviously not possible with the vast majority of cars and modern LLS bikes.

Last I heard it was with the insurance ombudsman. Don't know if its been resolved either way.

No options from my car insurer.

Looks like I'll be sticking with them then. Tbf when I picked them a few years ago they were quite a bit ahead of others in terms of what's covered, and the price is up a fair 2% this year.

^ "the price is up a fair 2% this year"

How very understated!

Pretty sure mine is on my home insurance (Aviva), but with the ambiguous 'covered' clause as above

My insurance, can't remember which company now, wouldn't pay out for the bike when it was stolen from inside a locked car and fully covered; because it wasn't locked to the car. Maybe worth checking on the policy details

That’s the opposite of my experience with Pedalcover. I claimed for bike and kit under the accidental damage cover after an off. It was handled well and I got a decent payout from them. The excess cover bit was a little slow but they paid out in full as well.

Cycleplan covers bikes locked to, or inside a locked vehicle, as standard.  It also came out cheapest via comparison websites, but not had to make a claim yet.

Not insurance but a tip for some.

If you’re using a towbar rack with a light board, get an extension for the towbar electrics and pass it through the bike frames.
When you lock the car, continuity of the towbar electrics becomes part of the car alarm (on my car at least), so they can’t get the bikes without setting off the car alarm.
