Getting them insured under the house policy is looking tricky/expensive. Anyone insure theirs independently? with who?

I've never seen a standalone policy that even comes close to the cost of house insurance, they're always ludicrously expensive!

Same here, had a look around and none seem to be reasonably priced

I insured my bike with cycle guard last month. I decided it had gotten to a point where I couldn't adopts to replaced bike if something happened to it.

Same. When I looked, I would have been paying for a new bike every 5 or six years in insurance premiums. I've had 28 years of bike ownership (no of bikes x no of years) since 18 with 1 theft - not insured at the time.

They're on the house insurance now.

If your only option is stand-alone insurance, buy a good lock, be as careful as you can and stick the premiums in a "bike insurance" savings account.

Does the British Cycling discount amount to much?
