Has anyone done a guided bike trip to Greece? After spending 6 weeks in the more usual places this year we fancy somewhere different for October / November time, and something near the coast would be interesting.

Still looking for similar riding, but no need for uplifts.

Ibiza Spain...The island is full of rolling high hills with short climbs then long twisty descent over 300 mtrs decsent.. Trails take you to cliff top coast lines stunning beaches lots of single track..There a lot more too Ibiza.

I'm guessing from your username that's not an entirely impartial recommendation? ;p

Mod - please move to Classifieds! 😉

I wanted to avoid Spain if possible, I've done quite a lot of mountain biking on Mallorca and Southern Spain, so was looking for something a little different.

Maybe Morocco then?

I could relive my 90's hedonistic dole-boy days though, with a trip back to Ibiza Town, but not so sure I'm up to an all nighter in Space anymore (or prepared to face almost certain flashbacks)

I went to Greece with [sorry, name escapes me] in 08 or 09 - I think they packed up though
They were based on the coast somewhere West of Athens

What a great place to ride that was, the only place I've been that I would definitely go back to given the chance

Sorry if I've not really given you much info but just to say, Greece is worth looking at for sure.

Depending what kind of trip you're after, you could travel across the Atlas mountains for 5 days with Freeride Morocco. Then have a nice, non biking weekend in Essaouira.
The accommodation in the mountains is very basic. If you're travelling with your other half though, staying in a nice hotel in Essaouira should make up for that.
I went for the riding but whole experience was more like an adventure. The fact we were roughing it just added to that. We didn't have to use a vehicle for the 5 riding days but the van carrying our gear would meet us for lunch. If you were worse for wear, had a mechanical or were injured you would have been able to get in and go to the next nights accommodation...no one on our trip had too though.

What's the situation like with booze on that Morocco trip? - I do like a drink after a day's riding

Jota - You would have to pick some up at the start of the trip but that would depend on what time your flight got in. The only other thing I could suggest would be to get some spirits in the duty-free. I like a beer myself but didn't miss it in the mountains...one of our days was nearly uphill all the way. I wouldn't have wanted to have done it feeling slightly rough. There were bars in the bigger hotels in Marrakech, we only ended up there at the end of the trip though.
I don't know how much you like to drink of a night? I know I'd be mad if someone on a trip got a skinful every night and was suffering for it. The altitude and the heat make it hard enough as it is.

If you're travelling with your other half though...

...she's a better rider than me, so not an issue there really.

Thanks, sounds interesting, I'll take a look.

BTW - Sean at RideSieraNevada also does a Southern Spain / Atlas trip

I don't know how much you like to drink of a night?

Normally don't bother much but on holiday I would have half a dozen pints or so [don't like spirits] after a good day out, nothing that would upset my next day's ride though

agentdagnamit - That's not what I meant, I was on about the basic accommodation...they're gites and although some were better than others, they were very basic.

Jota - By the sound of things, I don't think a point-to-point trip in high mountains would be best for you. You'd be better off being in one place where you could tailor you rides to suit you. Looking back on our trip we were knackered every night, if we'd all had a couple of beers we would have been falling asleep in our suppers!

Nah, done lots of point-to-point multi day trips with 'refreshments' each day
Tour de Mont Blanc
English off road C2C
Welsh Sarn Helen
LEJOG
Pyrenees raid

I just don't let being knackered get in the way of a post ride beer 🙂

d45 - understand! Sounds like Morocco isnt the place if you like goose down pillows and a skinfull before bed! Does sound good though (and we're both used to slumming it outdoors).

Sardinia is interesting too, I rode with a complete nutter from there at Garda a few years ago, he was raving about the island.
