Looking to hire a bike a Glentress, what are the best options? I guess Alpine bikes is handiest but what about in Peebles or Inners? Bike is for a novice if it makes any difference and he's quite tall and its on Sunday.

I was there a couple of weekends ago and saw quite a few Genesis Core bikes for hire at Alpine. Great choice for a beginner and very convenient.

Hiring a bike at The Hub was rather good fun in the past, I took out a Ti Genesis and there were Cotic Souls and a real eclectic mix to try. Shame it is all a bit more uniform now

I'm surprised you've not had more of a response tbh.

There are LOTS of trek HTs from alpine on the trail - they look fine. In the shop they also seem to have a good range of top end Trek FS, and the Ubiquitous Oranges.

In Peebles itself there are a few hire places. But I never really see them out on the trail - that's not saying they arent brilliant - but most folk seem to get Alpine "clarried" bikes (that's my missus' term for something with too many stickers).

Alpine do the usual hire fleet stuff but also a range of "test bikes" much like the Hub used to do- nicer models that you can pay a little more for.

Cheers folks, Alpine looks the easiest. Hunting around the net the other shops/hire places are remarkably sparse of info.

I'd stick with Alpine cos if something goes wrong with the bike their only at the bottom of the hill.
