Anyone got pictures of good hacks and adaptations to bikes that may make a rainy Sunday evening interesting.

Emphasis on things that work, not world of bodge.

Tomhoward has made the first ever bike with South Downs winter mud clearance. đŸ˜†

It’s certainly quicker/sharper, though the fork needs a bit more travel, partly for head angle issues, partly because of the reduced bounce from the tyres.

Frame is currently being replaced by a full rigid carbon Mukluk for super speedy yummyness. Assuming my wrists can hack it. Bluto will make an appearance if not, in 100mm form

On One PickenFlick Which "apparently" won't take road gearing. 1* CK MTN BB (~1mm narrower) and a 2mm Ti BB spacer later and Voila:

V-brake nuts make tidy spacers for making mudguards work with disc calipers.

Fitting a 135 spacing rohloff into a 145 spacing tandem frame and including a speedbone big disc callipers and rack and trailer mounts took a bit of head scratching but ended up a very neat and strong installation thanks to Ben Cooper of kinetics fame

Its been modified again slightly since those pics as I could use a speedbone with less machined off it

No pictures, as there isn't a lot to see...

Want to run 11spd on a budget?

Shimano XT Thumbshifter on Friction mode and the worlds your Oyster, currently run 9spd rear mech and 10spd chain, works a treat, especially in Winter slop, the rear mech with a grub screw as a "B Spot" will run a 11-42 "One By" set up and it's an easy swap back to a 10/9/8 speed
