Is there a comprehensive list of establishments anywhere, preferably with user ratings?
Have checked CTC and theirs seems a half-hearted attempt, not necessarily up-to-date either.
Thanks. 🙂
agreed cg. I stayed in a ctc rated one in pickering.
imagine George and mildred running a bnb, with full 70's decore.
nylon bed sheets.......uuurrgghhhh 😆
Have you tried this lot?
I think you are right though - no one will have a comprehensive list. That may be because, in my experience, I've yet to come across a bike unfriendly B&B.
lol @ ton. 😀
druidh - useful link, thanks. Ah but the Scots are generally more hospitable, ime. It's needing the obvious things such as secure bike storage, clothes drying facility, generous breakfast and evening meal portions.
c_g you might have a point if most B&Bs in Scotland weren't actually run by retired English folk 🙂
C_G, down here in sunny Wales there are a lot of B&Bs that display the cyclists welcome badge.
Which isn't a Welsh only thing but part of the CTC- http://www.cyclistswelcome.co.uk/
Visitscotland list facilities for their members. Secure storage and drying facilities will be ad hoc as it's peoples hooses you are staying in not a hotel/youth hostel. Trip advisor is also handy.
This B&B has a garage and clothes lines and natives! www.balmillig.co.uk

My friends and the nicest bike friendly b&b in the uk

Stayed here twice last year - once when biking at C-Y-B and once doing the DH runs at Blaenau Ffestiniog...

Great stays - good en-suite rooms, great breakfast, secure indoor bike storage.
Glenys is mad as a box of frogs but ultra-friendly.
We'll be doing Antur Stiniog again this year and deffo staying here again.
Forgot to say most of her guests are bikers too.
CG, we've stay den a few whilst touring, it a lot easier and more common than you think. Find somewhere (as in town, area) where you want to stay and check them all out on the internet. Some, especially near popular cycling destinations or routes, will list bike storage, the others you can email or call if you like them. One place we stayed in was a pub B&B and the bikes were basically in the back room of the bar all night!
We plan a tour nearly every year (doing one now) and it's easy. Specific 'cycling list' not required. 🙂
www.motogoloco.com is one I work on, it's geared for motorcyclists, BUT... If the storage is safe for a motorbike, it'll be fine for 1/3/4 mountain bikes, and the welcome / happy with soggy/muddy bods arriving is always good for both, cos there all hand-picked.
Worth a look anyway!
🙂
