Or arse-cam in my case. After getting whacked on the backside by someone’s door mirror yesterday, I’ve decided it’s time for a rear facing camera.
The two main candidates, Cycliq Fly6 and Garmin RCT715 get pretty poor reviews. So is the answer just to get a GoPro?
Road rides are about two hours usually.
Couple mates have Cycliq and seem perfectly happy with them.
New Fly6 is fine and smaller than the original. They’ve fixed the mounting issues too. They also sent me a replacement when my mk2 fell off due to mount failure. Sadly I left that in France a couple of years ago and upgraded to the newest version last year. My original recorded a fatal accident and the content was presented at the inquest.
The 12 on the front has been a poor experience and is now bricked. I would look elsewhere for a front camera. Tried to do too much and didn’t really deliver.
I've got a GoPro session mount to my handlebars as a front facing camera but have recently been thinking that something helmet mounted and/or rear view might be more useful.
It's a bit pricey, but the Techalogic DC-1 looks interesting; it's helmet mounted and does front and rear filming in the same package (only 1080p but that's what I set my GoPro to).
There's a fairly comprehensive [motorcycle based] review at https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/motorcycle-technology/techalogic-dc-1-front-rear-helmet-camera-review

My 12CE has been fine(*) though I saw there's a new version about to be released.
* - camera works fine but the bar mount is now held on with a cable tie.
