Hi,

I'm posting a survey on bike cleaning, the respondents to which will be entered in a draw to win £50 cash, the winner will be announced here. This post has been approved by mods, Chipps and Mark.

The survey is here: http://bikecleaning.questionpro.com

It will take less than 4 minutes to complete. I'm asking the questions as I'm researching making a new bike cleaning product. All data will be confidential and only ever used by myself, no marketing, sharing, selling etc.

I would really appreciate your help and it would be fantastic to have the communities feedback in potentially bringing a new product to market and great to have the forum be involved onwards from there.

Thanks!

Done. 'Cleaning' is a bit of a vague term for me. I'll do the fork seals/stanchions after every ride and the drivetrain after every second one, but anything else is lucky if it gets washed more than 2-3 times in its lifetime.

flawed...the question asking how do u rate the products, there is no option to say 'never used product'

Done - but I had a problem with the survey. I accidently clicked the radio button to rate the Halfords product - once the radio button was clicked I couldn't unclick it.

So when you look at a survey that says someone used 4 products, but rates 5....that's me 😳

Done. I will take my £50 via paypal gift please.

Curious as to whether there is anything on the market currently you just spray on and everything falls off....even grimy oil stuff.

I must admit, I can't wait for a bike cleaner that doesn't involve a brush and rag. That would save me no end of time!

Done it.

Although I'll have to see it to believe it that you don't need to use a brush when the bikes covered in mud. For example

@dogg - if I can make something worth testing then certainly I'll be looking for volunteers!

@RealMan - Hmmm. That might need a bit of a brush. Or a sulphuric acid dip tank!

Done. Again, I'd be interested to use a cleaner that requires no brush or little brush work.

Good luck.

Thanks. Its definitely possible, just a questions of price, material compatibility and post use performance (eg no streaking or residue etc).

Follow me on twitter which is where I'll update on products and look for testers etc.

Thanks!

Ok, so as promised I have made the draw and the lucky winner has been emailed - check your email!

I've asked the winner for their permission to announce here before I do as I though it was the right thing to do - I'm sure however they'll want to brag!

So well done to the winner, and thanks to everyone for the great response -it was really fantastic - nearly 500 responses which the statisticians amongst you will know is a great sample size and gives me a good confidence interval.

If you didn't complete the survey, you still can, it's just the draw that is now closed. The survey is here and takes less than 3 mins. http://bikecleaning.questionpro.com /p>

Everything is progressing well, moving from sucessful lab test to tests in the wild this weekend, you can follow progress on my blog here, I'll also show some aggregated survey results there which are quite interesting: http://dirtwork.posterous.com

And on twitter here: http://twitter.com/DirtWorkUK

Would be great to keep you involved.

Thanks again
