Hello bike people!

I have spent the last 6 years riding a 26" hardtail. It's time for an upgrade. I've bought a 2019 DMR Sled frame. It's boost (only recently discovered what that means - I'm very behind the times). I've bought an appropriate wheelset and fork and want to salvage as much as possible off my current bike to keep costs down. Bar, stem, pedals, saddle and brakes are all being moved over. However, the drive train is confusing me. I currently have a Shimano SLX 1 x 11 set up bought in 2017. Cassette and chain are on their last legs but everything else I want to strip and put on the new frame. Can I do this? Not sure what this would mean for chainline/ boost compatibility. Any advice would be gratefully recieved.

Cheers

Jimmy

It’ll be fine. Boost technically moves the chain line out a whole 3mm, so you’ll be centred one sprocket larger on the back.

Most likely it's all fine. Boost doesn't change anything in terms of drivetrain, except moving the chainring out slightly (3mm). That doesn't really make much difference to you, your chaninline will be slightly different, but for 1x that can almost be a good thing. Your only worry is the chainring being too close to or hitting the chainstay - test fit the cranks and see how it is. Worst case, you might need a boost crank or chainring (I think it would be a crank in your case, as SLX doesn't have boost rings)
