Now we have a fancy leather and carpet clad motor and a lease car, I'm wondering if there's some kind of lightweight bag that doesn't necessarily have loads of padding, but would help protect the interior from dirt, scrapes and perhaps stuff like pedal or handlebar damage.
Anyone use such a thing?
I recently got a Duffbags Dirtbag off the classified here. Perfect for it. No longer made though.
I've found using 1 ton bags doesn't work that well due to the shape.
Could maybe try a motorcycle outdoor cover and put the bike in with it upside down?
We used Safebag. A big durable bag that fitted in the car using the anchor points. Protected the car, plus there was no way of telling what was in it. Could be bikes, could be rubbish.
I use a boot liner rather than a bag for the same purpose. Have been pleased with the one I got from https://www.hatchbag.co.uk/
I've had one of those Duff Monster bags for years and really rate it, such a shame they're not made anymore, though they were a PITA to get even when they were made, sure there's thread on here somewhere of people waiting 18 months for theirs! Scott do something called the Bike Sleeve that looks similar, so perhaps worth a look: https://www.scott-sports.com/gb/en/product/scott-bike-transport-bag-sleeve
When we got our new Arona last September I got a boot liner from the Hatchbag and still use the Duff Bag too for a full belt braces approach to car interior preservation! It's really, really good and so quick to whip in and out if you need too.
Plush German saloon here, with drop-down seats.
I just use an extra thick Kingsize duvet, £15 from Asda and I get a couple of years out of one.
Soaks up anything plus protects against knocks etc.
Get yourself down to your local bed/mattress shop and ask for one of the big plastic bags that mattresses arrive in when delivered. They are thick, fold well and are just the right size.
I use Evoc bags. Not the big take it on a plane bags, but a cover like you describe.
I also use old duvets and pillows.
NoxSox pedal covers are brilliant though, particularly for flat pedals.
I use a big tarpaulin sheet that was literally about £3 on ebay.

Well I'd thought of that, obviously, during the 30 or so years I've bene putting bikes in cars but it's more of a faff, less effective and doesn't protect the car that much and leaves it more visible for thieves.
