I've got a fully rigid Haro Mary I bought off someone on here, it's my first 29er and as my dog walking bike it gets a fair bit of use. It currently has a pair of 2.2 Nevegals on it that are running at a pretty high pressure (40ish), any ideas what tyre I could run (maybe just on the front) to cope with the rocks around Talybont that may be a bit more forgiving. The fork will probably take something close to a 3" tyre at a guess. Mates have said put a suspension fork on there but I really want to keep it simple and maintenance free for chucking in the barn! Any ideas?
Racing Ralph 2.4 is up there, using a wider rim helps a lot as well. Or you have the forthcoming Surly 29x3.0...
That Surly sounds the ticket in my mind, any idea when?
have a looky on unicycle.com, they had some 2.55 WTB dissents, which are massive I ran mine at about 10 psi for super squidge and rock munching.
I have a WTB dissent 2.55 I'm not using, in great condition. email in profile if interested.
Hans Dampf 29er 2.35 comes up pretty big
Surly Endomorph 3.7
Bit of a stretch getting one on a 29er rim though 😉
Looking into those Dissents thanks all, it's a shame Conti don't do those Rubber Queen 2.4s in a 29, they'd be spot on!
