Hi there,

I'm after some high volume slow tyres (cheap ideally) to add extra training resistance to flat bridleway rides. Something that will fit my rock lobster tig team SL. I'm currently running High Roller 2.35s which are slow but I'd like to go slower.

I know this is a bizarre request but please humour me 🙂

Chris

Intense Intruder 2.5 in 4 ply - they're like dragging a bucket full of concrete behind you on tarmac! Probably not fit an xc bike though, luckily for you!

I'll humor...try any large wtb tread you find on discount, maybe even wire bead to add to weight, they are like tractor tires and can be had cheap if you look around online. I'm running 2.3 prowlers right now, def slower than I'm used to, not sure how the compare to HRs tho.

Let some air out of the tyres you've got? Or, buy some slime tubes or DH tubes to go in the HRs

line your current tyres with a 1.5" strip of thick carpet. Plus the underlay.

2.4 wire bead 2-ply Vertstar Big Bettys. Like riding into a gale force wind wearing a parachute and dragging a skip full of rocks behind you. Uphill.

The instant you stop churning away your bike will stop - dead.

Very good downhill though 🙂

the cheapest way has to be DH tubes and low air pressure.

or see if CRC or similar have any deals on DH tyres. really you only need to buy for the rear.

I have a 2.7" super tacky minion. Brilliant on the front of a DH bike, like pedalling porridge for anything else.

Water, hilarious, thanks for that you made my day lol

Big bettys or Conti rubber queens look big heavy and cheap on nextdaytyres

Is the carpet strip a serious suggestion?

DH tubes - great suggestion for adding weight thank you I'll investigate that.

I do not live under a bridge honest 😉

Cheers, Chris

Can't see how it could fail to make your tyres slower and heavier, so yes!

Plus you could soak it in water first for even more win (/lose?)

Downhill-model Kenda Nevegal? They're crap, mind, but they're slow and heavy and last better than sticky dh tyres (the reason being, they're made of bakalite and leather)
