I’m after a gravel type bike with big head tube and ETT but can’t find exactly what I’m looking for. The Bombtrack Beyond XL sizing would be great but I’m ideally looking for aluminium with a carbon fork.

Looking at head tube of 215+ and effective to tube of 615+. Any tall lads out there who can recommend something?

I tend to look at the American brands first, particularly QBP. Surly go big, and Soma and All-City do too, although they have a bit less choice. Trek sometimes. It's so rare that a non-American frameset goes big enough for me that I only bother looking if I feel like refreshing my annoyance about it 🙂

Another option is to look for hybrid/trekking framesets designed for flat bars and rigid forks, because they'll give you a longer top tube than one designed for drop bars without going into MTB angles. I've got a Pinnacle Chromium which meets that description: 620mm top tube, 210mm head tube on a 405mm fork, and 72.5/72.5 angles. Comfortably clears both 700x37 and 27.5x2.2 tyres. They still have stock of the EBB model in XL, and it's cheap. Lighter than you might expect, too: my non-EBB one is 1765g for the frame and 665g for the fork.

I have been looking at Trek's gravel bikes. the checkpoint looks fantastic, But I too am put off by the low handlebar position caused by a shorter headtube/steerer.
so I think I may build a surly straggler up to match my wife's 14'' frame.

Cannondale Topstone is quite a tall bike, might be worth a look

The Topstone is a contender, possibly a bit short. Treks are short too. The Pinnacle looks to be on the money from a sizing perspective. Does it have a derailleur hanger?

Have you thought about a xc frame and ridgid fork?
I have an on one inbread ridgid carbon fork (exotic cheep one but you can get blade ones just as cheap now days) 50mm stem and drop bars.
Its a lot better fit and ride off road than the pickandflick with its 120mm stem and you can run whatever tyres you want upto 2.25".
I'm 6'6" for reference.

A tall friend has a Specialized Sirrus in XXL and converted to drop bar, that’s ally with carbon forks, and massive, cheers

Yes, rigid MTB would be great for cockpit length but without having 80mm off spacers I wouldn’t be able to get the front end high enough.

Ah, good point. No. I'm almost tempted to say buy one and swap it with mine (which I haven't built up yet, and which does have a hanger). 🙂

My xl cutthroat is one of the biggest frames I’ve ridden. I’m 6’4” and can set it up with almost level bars and saddle easily enough. Obviously will be of less use if you are a lot taller though!

What about Fairlight Secan, they do and Standard and a Tall fit? Plus they do a 58 or 61 size frame?

A mate might be selling a 58 Tall, if any good?

Nice looking bike. Looks like I’d be a 61.

I'm 6'4" and recently got a Specialized Diverge Elite 61cm. It has the biggest stack out of all the ones I looked at as per my spreadsheet. I also run it with the stem flipped upwards for maximum uncoolness. If you wanted more rise you could get a more rise-y stem or some curly bars that have rise.
