Trying to put together a route for a tough day out in the hills. Looking for around 120km/3000m of climbing.

I've done the Gap a couple of times so hoping to explore different areas. Have OS maps for the whole region but there are not many bridleways marked, especially in the western half.
Route would need to be a loop and I'd like it to go over some big, exposed hilltops with long sweeping descents rather than super steep stuff as will be on an xc bike.

Is the Beacons way a definite no no? Also I've always fancied descending the ridge line off Pen y Fan ( been up it once) but suspect tutting walkers would spoil the mood.

Could do a lot worse than to pick up one of these - https://www.beacons-npa.gov.uk/shop/product.php?id_product=297

Has OS mapping and route cards with decent descriptions and difficulty gradings against them.

Nothing you couldn't find with an OS map but it's nice to have an idea of if it's going to be bridleway worth riding or just a quagmire with a few hoofprints.
