I must be the opposite shape to ‘the cyclist’ being short-5’8’’ but with a long torso, and big thighs 59cm circumference . Like a shaven chimp if you will.

Anyway, all my roadie bibs cut into my shoulders and are too tight around the thighs.

Can anyone recommend a road bib short that might fit?

I bought some bonty mountain bike bibs and overshorts, XL fit perfectly, I can’t feel the shoulder straps and they don’t seem to want to slice my legs off.

Did you mean thighs rather than calves?

Few thanks, edited.

XL just seem to get longer in the leg, still tight on shoulders and tight on the leg.

Its the right ‘cut’ I guess I’m after.

Craft, Santini  and Giordana all too tight around the thigh, I guess they are quite racy brands.

I suppose I need to stop buying stuff in sales on the internet and go and buy in a shop.

Craft Santini and Giordana are all skinny Italian cuts, study the charts, ignore the waist measurements and the letter sizing, because they're all different.

Yeah I get that, I just wondered if anyone can point in in the right direction.

I've got a couple of pairs of Castelli and a pair of Funkier that I got on sale in CRC. The Funkier definitely have more room around the shoulders. Pretty comfy for a long ride too.

Well, as an update, I ordered some Scott XXL and Adidas XXL, both were absolutely massive, but I thought I’d try cos they were super cheap from Start.

In the end I decided to stop messing around and got some Rapha ones from Bicester village. Size Large Brevet are perfect, can’t feel the straps, the legs and gripper aren’t overly tight and the pad is good. It was nice to try them on and get advice from knowledgeable staff.

£120, so cheaper than the cost of my poorly fitting ones added up.
