Hi All,
I am looking to sort out my winter wardrobe. Until now I have got away with 3/4 length shorts with Mrs Wachowchow's rather fetching stripey leg warmers. This combo has served me very well down to -10 deg C. However, I have a Covert this year and find that the leg of the 3/4 short hangs up on the suspension linkage when climbing out of the saddle, not always but its on my mind, so I am considering short shorts (Altura semi dry) and bib longs for extra cosyness. Typically 2 to 3 hour XC, trail rides day or night.
Any recommendations for MTB use bib longs? Never had any before as I always regarded these as the preserve of the roady but age and maturity has me considering these as a nice practical solution for those cold lonely nights in t'woods.

My reccomendation is DHB Vaeon Roubaix
That'll do for me Iain, thanks. I did have half an eye on these ones. I was hoping that no one suggested the Assos ones for hard tail frame money!
I've got DHB roubaix too, it's good stuff, pretty much the only legwear I use over the winter.
If you fall off wearing just tights it's easy to put a hole in them around the knee. Happened to me a couple of times. I'd stick with the three quarter length shorts over the top.
Just ordered their leg warmers. That way I can wear my favourite bib shorts and baggy shorts and still have warm legs (and i've got knee warmers for medium days)

I've not holed mine, and I crash a lot!
Roubaix bibs and 3/4 shorts would be a bit toasty!
Ordered the Roubaix's and Altura semi dry's. Already feeling warmer, probably just that lovely bike kit spend glow though.
I love the 3/4 shorts and pretty much live in my selection of Zymes whether riding or not for most of the year. But as said above, once the trouser leg hooked up on the suspension linkage once or twice it niggles the mind. It's only ever going to do happen on a particularly technical up section when concentration and full burst of commitment is required. Short shorts on the Covert from now on.
Thanks for the advice all!! 🙂
