Hi all,
At the moment I generally wear a set of TLD padded liner shorts under baggies for MTB and bikepacking, and either regular boxers under baggys for shorter gravel rides, or the TLD padded shorts under baggys for longer gravel rides.

My only experience of bibs is a set of Planet X 365s that were fine on their own back when I did a bit of road riding, but I find them hot and uncomfortable under baggys and riding top now - I run quite hot.

My current setup is ok but I get a pretty sore butt on rides longer than 3-4 hours, so I'm keen to explore bibs again. I think I want;

Very comfortable under baggys
Minimalist straps/back material
Play nicely with knee pads
Suitable for all day riding
Doesn't need to be worn over a baselayer
Ideally can be worn on their own, so not as revealing as many bib liners seem to be, and decent leg length (I'm just over 6ft, slim build)
Storage pockets
Up to £100, will stretch to £150

Do these exist? Aware various sales on which may help.
I've been looking at the Rapha Core Cargo, Rapha MTB liner, Nukeproof Cargo, Morvelo cargo etc.

Thanks,
Duane.

7mesh cargo bibs. Not much material above the waist, comfiest shoulder straps ever. Tons of storage. Can usually find them on sale somewhere.

I'm a real fan of Galibier bibs - great value, my shorts (rather than 3/4 and longs) are a more 'airy' pad than anything else I've got.
They kick my Endura winter bibs and Madison liners into touch from a quality, fit and design details point of view.

I like Galibier and Sundried for good value bibs. Sundried do a plain black pair that are very minimalist, with very little above the waist, thin material, no pockets on them though. Sundried do (or did anyway, not sure now) a big discount for new accounts, probably with some kind of email sign up.

See also the sigma sports psa for big discounts on 7mesh which, if still available, puts a much higher end option at a very good price.

I've got some Endura Singletrack bibs with rear pockets - only worn them a couple of times but seem good. Pockets are a bit limited.
Also got some Nukeproof backline DOTD bibs which se to have larger pockets than the Endura. Currently on Wiggle for £30 - Linky

Very impressed with my Nukeproof blackline storage bins.

Pad is relatively thin but has worked well for me. Storage is great, I've carried a flexible flask in the middle, phone, snacks and a couple of little spares and can't tell they are there

£30 at Wiggle at the moment!

+1 for Galibier. I have bibs for winter and shorts for summer. Galibier are really good quality and n ot silly money. I even wear them without baggies when its hot.

I've a couple of pairs of alpkit bib shorts picked up in a sale. They have been pretty good for the money.

I have a couple of pairs of mesh-top roadie bib shorts that I find supremely comfortable and cool. I wore them last month in Greece in high 30s temperature. Because of their shiny nature and the fact they squeeze all my blubber tight I have to wear a belt with my Endura baggies or they will slip down a bit and catch on my saddle at the bottom of descents.
