Hi All,
I recently bought a Beto shock pump to inflate my RS Monarch RT3 rear shock, however when the pump is attached to the valve the pump doesn't show the current pressure, it just sits at zero. When pumping the valve does move, but only gets up to about 180PSI before it gets really difficult to pump (normal due to the high pressures?)
I tried the pump on the forks, which are also RS (Pike) and the gauge shows the pressure correctly so it seems like the pump is working correctly.
Anyone else have any issues inflating the Monarch shocks? Is it just a compatibility issue with the pump and the shock?
I spoke to the retailer, who sold the pump and they suggested a sticking pin in the shock valve, or that the shock requires an adapter. As far as I know the other valve on the shock requires the additional valve but not the main one

Are you screwing it on far enough? Most shock pumps open the valve in the shock and rely on the valve in the pump, then when you disconnect the pump closes the valve before the seal is broken.
If it's not on far enough it won't be opening the valve (but air pressure will open it and register on the gauge).

Yeah, I've tried screwing it on as far as it can go and it doesn't seem to display the pressure. If the pump wasn't engaging the pin then that would explain the difficulty pumping too.
Hmm, I'll take another look at it tonight I think, but seeing as it works on the forks then I can only assume the pump is fine
Assuming this is the 2 stage beto pump with the red screw knob on he valve head also?
Unscrew the red knob 3-4 turns, screw the adapter onto the valve, then tighten the red knob.

This was it. I tightened the connector onto the valve even tighter than I had before, as tight as it would go, then tightened it some more until the pressure was showing in the gauge.
