Mainly for a road bike commute - after something versatile I can use from now through the winter.

When it's just really cold and dry I still love my Pace Raceware Winteractive.

Gore Phantom , add a Helly Hanson Lifa base layer when it gets really cold.

Yeh I've still got one of them and a great cosy jacket. Best jacket ever though is the rapha softshell, just the perfect cold weather jacket. Really can't wait till its cold enough to wear it again.

Gore Phantom +1. Best jacket I've used.
Add a Rab Generator Vest for when it gets freakin cold.

I bagged a Gore tool jacket last year on the cheap and it has been excellent with a base under it.

Just looking for a cheap wind/showerproof myself. Anything more substantial just becomes boil in the bag however breathable they're meant to be. Looking at the

Montane featherlite velo
Montane singletrack
Dhb minima s
Surface pertex

All seem pretty similar for similar money?

One jacket can't really cover +10c through to -10c, so Phantom over 5c and then Stealth below it.
