many discussions on here about it and you will get many different replies.

Fenwicks foamy goo for cleaning

"best lube" is very subjective, the best I've ever tried is the chain-L 5, but it is best applied to a new chain (or at least a fully degreased and dried chain)

Chains are like underpants; new ones are nice, but most of the time you'll be using older, more worn ones. Despite the advent of chain wear checkers, and all the associated BS, you will wear them out and you will have to change them.

Best bet; use a dry waxy chain lube.

Why?

It's less hassle to clean when it's dry.

When it's wet, you don't need a chain lube because water does an excellent job.

Singlespeed it & leave the gears off till summer. You'll probably find you need less of them when you put them back on again. 🙂
