Finally used up all the Joe's I bought from CRC at £10/l. Seemed to work well, but is now double that price.
Any pointers to cheap sealant? I race CX and change tyres a lot, so even though I try to reclaim as much as possible, always end up losing some in a tyre change.
Barbieri from Planet X. £10 a litre or so.
Do you use milkit vavles? Majkeas it realy easy to get almost all the sealant out a tyre before removing it and injecting it into a new ome.
Planet X have lots of types of oko at good prices, is any of that any good?
Ive got the original oko agricultural stuff. I suspect it's like the longlife sealents with less latex and more fibres as its not great at sealing holes, thorns seem fine but bigger twigs dont seem to seal but doesnt dry out like stans. Cant comment on the bike stuff. Ive gone back to stans race sealent, even at £25/quart its cheap per tyre. And compared to the price of tyres tyres its like asking "is it worth saving 50p on this tyre for considerably leas puncture resistance and no other benefit".
Stans Race. often imitated, never equalled
Stans Race doesn't seem to do anything when I've used it. Just pisses out everywhere.
Its one of those things thats hard to judge as 98% of punctures / statistics are sealed without you noticing / made up.
Everything Ive tried eventually fails to seal something seemingly small. Either it goes off or there must be something about that hole that wont seal. But the oko stuff doesnt seem to pull the trick of drying out on the bead and stopping it leaking slowly trick off either which is a bit of a pita.
And on the road bike its always more of a 'get you home slowly at ~50psi' repair than on the mtb. Great in a race or for commuting maybe but im unconvinced its worth thr faff for the average sunday clubrun type riding.
