I need to get some new SPD shoes, as my current Specialized Sport ones are crushing my feet and therefore I am getting cold feet now its getting colder.

However, I am amazed at the price of a pair of shoes, it just seams stupid!

I've been looking at Shimano M087L shoes, which I can get for about £55, are they any good, what other options are there?

Do you want some really cheap ones to size up & run through the winter with big socks?

My local Aldi still had some, think they were under £20

Otherwise, what you have pic of is a great shoe, I had the older version, was very good.

Not sure if it's still the case but CRC had some good deals on the M087 in the now-discontinued silver finish a few weeks back. You'd need to be able to put up with having shiny silver shoes which may not be to everyone's tastes. I'm liking mine so far.

slight hijack - I've seen these listed as 'Wide fit'?

I'm cautious about ordering given that Shimano shoes seem to be notorious for being small - is the 'wide fit' a more 'normal sizing' or do you still have to size up?

thanks

Can't speak for the MO87s but I had to return a pair of MT43s because they were too narrow across the forefoot. I ordered a pair of Specialized Tahoe instead in the same size which were wide enough for me.

I've heard other reports of Specialized being wider fitting.

I'd prefer to try shoes on in my LBS before buying but next to nothing is stocked in my size - 48.

If in doubt order from somewhere returns are easy. I don't usually use Evan Cycles but web order returns can be done at any Evans shop with your card credited immediately. So I ordered two sizes from Evans and returned the wrong size.

Got a pair of M087Gs under my desk still in box, unused and ready to be returned as too small, size 44, silver from CRC when reduced to £28.17. I'm a size 9 normally.

They just come up a but tight and although a great bargain I've decided not to keep them.

Yours (or anybodys!) for £28.17 plus postage

I use the mo77s & got them from Parker International last year, they are 52 gbp now.

Tops, I use them on & off road, no problems at all. They came the next day & I've worn them most days for a year now.

I looked at M077's but decided against as my current velcroe speshys keep coming undone, hence thinking of a rachet closing system.

Think I will have to go to the local shop & try them on for size.

Shimano are excellent shoes but be careful with sizes, I take 46 in street shoes but need 48 in Shim shoes

What about the muddy Fox range from Sports Direct. They are cheap

i have some Shimano M087 wide. I was starting to get some Problemss with my feet for having too narrow shoes.

They are wider round the toe area in comparison to the specialised I was using before.

The only issue is they are really for PeoPle with fat feet as they are still wide at the ankle. Rather than for thinish PeoPle with short\wide feet but narrow ankles. [like me]

However they are Probably still the most comfortable shoes I have I just have to do the belt uP tight to make sure they stay on.
