You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I got rid of mountain bikes a while ago, the kids weren't showing any interest and my free time was slowly eroding so I decided that a bit of bimbling was in order, to keep middle age spread away and just give me a bit of "clear head" time
Anyway, roll forward in to lockdown and the kids are now MTB obsessed! They've just had their first proper MTB's bought and are absolutely loving it!
As a result I'm now back on the hunt for a hardtail, max budget £750 ish - what's out there?
I've googled all the usual suspects and the best value that I can find seems to be this: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/am-100-ht-mountain-bike-275-id_8543080.html
Having just bought number one son a new Rockrider, I have to say that I've been pretty impressed with their quality
What else is out there for my budget?
Cheers
Voodoo bizango from Halfords gets good reviews. Also you get a discount if you're a member of the AA or British Cycling, plus some others I think.
Edit: Although that decathlon bike does look to have a good spec.
I wouldnt recommend you buy anything from Decathlon at present. They've sat on my order (only a small postable item I might add) for over a week, only to cancel and inform me Ive got to wait 7 days for a refund. Item is still advertised in stock and available to buy online. Their ordering process is shambolic.
Thanks for that.
To counter that slightly, the order for my son's bike was really easy, delivered on time and fully built and set up in the absolutely ginormous box - may have been lucky, but a pretty positive experience.
The only spec that I'm not keen on with the Rockrider that I linked to is the pressfit BB. I've never had one, but just reading the forum fills me with dread! Creaking, shortlife span, etc!
Theres some reduced cubes on the pauls cycles site.use the price range slider on the top left
Vitus HTs are usually recommended at that price
How about a quality Steel hardtail? Onza Jackpot is a penny under your budget with a host of decent gear.
Onza were out of stock when I checked earlier in the week unfortunately, as they would have been ideal
I've had a Vitus Nucleus for a year and have had nothing to complain about for £500. Install a dropper and you are sorted. Quite often out of stock though.
Has anyone got an Onza Payoff?
They look great for the money.
