i know this is a vague question but for general mtbing , 2 alps trip a year , that can take a 2.5 tyre what would u guys recommend , am liking the look of easton havens !
My Havens have been superb with 2.5s on and have been to the Alps this year. They are still true and I haven't suffered any of the bearing issues that some people have witnessed. I would also recommend Mavic Crosstrails. I have 2 sets that I have used tubeless for three years and they have been bombproof and cheaper than the Havens. The Havens are bling though 😀
Flows on Hopes?
I'd say Flow on Pro2 Evos, maybe Arch EX if you want a bit lighter, will be more expensive though as they're not available as a Hope Hoop.
Arch EX, Flow or Flow EX on Hopes is what I'd be looking at
Just got a set of mavic crossmax sx (on a new bike) yet to ride them much but it seems like a great package; respectably light (1755), 19mm internal width so wide-enough, out of the box compatibility with all the right standards 20/15mm front, 12x142/12x135 and qr rear. Look good, tubeless without rim strips, tyres go on and inflate easily- in fact I've yet to put the stans fluid in but a day after fitting 2 Schwalbe hans dampfs they're still up 🙂
Shimano xt wheel set have been faultless, very easy tubeless fit with spesh 2bliss and kenda ust, nice and quiet too, compared to my evos.
Flows on any hub, HANDBUILT! Factory wheels are an expensive joke. thats my opinion after having some of each anyway. Factory look good on paper but in real life they're made to be disposed of, handbuilt wheels are made to last and repair as necessary
I've been really surprised how good the SLX level wheelset from MT-68 from Shimano are. cheap, well made and ready to run tubeless. I've repeatedly smashed them into rocks and they're fine.
best does not mean most expensive these days.
oh, and apparent;y, all shimano wheels are handbuilt!
Glad there's more than one said Arch EX on Hope Pro2 Evo as that's what I have.
They've been faultless and I've had 2.4's on with no problem and good shape. I think they'd stand up to most things too but as said they're more expensive as they're not 'Hoops'. Worth the extra for the bling white rims on red hubs though... 😉

Have fun choosing OP.
my second hand flows on hope pro 2's have been faultless and a hell of a lot easier to set up tubeless than previous mavic rims i had. only problem is the hub really and the fact the freehub body is made of cheese, so either buy xt cassettes or a steel one if you get them
