A mate of mine wants to get a entry level bike. Looking at 400 pounds max. He will be coming out in the peak district but nothing too hard to start with.

Can anyone recommend a decent bike? Ive seen this...

As a slightly less obvious choice I'd get him to look at the Pinnacle Ramin one at Evans cycles. Currently £400.

Exactly what I was going to say. I got my virtually brand new Piglet for £400.
Mrs Oldman's Kona Blast was £300.

MBR has a hard tail review feature in this month's mag. Includes a section on sub £500 bikes, might be worth a look.
