I know a cheap one will work but if I wanted the best what would it be?

Bikeyoke do one without a lip running all the way around so less of the torque is used compressing the clamp.

I've always found salsa clamps to be the best for QR. Their bolt up ones are nice too

I had a seatpost slipping (nondrop Thomson in a Jones, you wouldn't expect tolerance issues with either) I ended up tightening it so far the bolt sheared 20 miles from home. No name clamp from the spares bin, not sure where it came from.

Looked for Salsa QR (non dropper on that bike), I've had them on other bikes, but just couldn't find them in stock. Ended up going Hope, and it's good. Not expensive, built with big bits, and a deep/wide collar to spread the clamping force. Doesn't look like it's going to give up in the middle of nowhere, which is really the number one thing you're looking for if you've just had that happen!

I bought a Hope bolt jobby for another bike, just the same, but it looks a bit chunky, big old clampy bit out the back without the QR lever to hide it. I just got excited looking at the minimalist ones mentioned above, but it seems at least the bikeyoke ones have issues with insufficient clamping and bolts shearing.

I've put a Corona in my basket, but I might leave it there!

I quite like the look ofthis one, I wonder how deep it is?

I already have a hope one, but they are a bit agricultural.

I agree completely! That one leaves me a bit cold. I've just had a look round, and I'd go Thomson if was buying now. Look great and work.

If it does make it onto a bike, the 3nm you need to do it up really is just that, don't be tempted to go more than that else you'll be needing a new bolt in pretty short order. I speak from experience (rounded the head, having tried to get to the 6nm the reverb was rated to). Now a new bolt is in (sent FOC after a rather sheepish email), you definitely don't need to go more than that...

I’ve broken 2 hope clamps, one qr, one bolt.
Replaced with a thomson, which is holding up (no pun intended) just fine.
I prefer the look of the hope, but it’s not about looks is it.

Didn't matter what I tried I couldn't stop the post slipping on my Giant Anthem and ended up with a Salsa Lip Lock (suggested by the Hive) and it's worked a treat.

I found the Hope one needs a regular taking apart and cleaning up.  Once you start to feel it needs too much pressure to close up, it's probably a sign it needs a clean.  It seems to be a design more prone to grit incursion than others but otherwise does a good job.

+1 for Bike Yoke. Tried few to cure a slipping dropper post. More even pressure, so does not prevent dropper post from working.

Chromag in my experience is far better than anything mentioned so far on here and I’ve tried em all albeit a time long, long ago before droppers negated them. (Quick release that is)

@ TheGhost I definitely have an Orange liplock from a Salsa Horsethief, not sure if it’s your colour. I think I’ve another one will check
