I'm buying a new saddle & back in my day when I used to road race San Marco Rolls was my first choice but times have changed so your suggestions for my Patriot would be very much appreciated..

Weight saving not so much of an issue as the bike weighs as much as the moon anyway 😉

Crikey, saddles are all a bit personal preference really, but the Charge Spoon is worth a shot, its cheap, good quality, light and if you dont get on with it very popular so you could just sell it on..

As above, no such thing as "best" s'what fits your rear innit.

SDG Bell Air and Charge Spoon are both popular. I like Specialized saddles. If you have a concept store or large Spesh dealer near you, you can try them for size.

I think (bit worn to tell for sure & I got the bike used) it's an SDG Bel Air SL on there now but it's brown & the rest of the bike is black & white so I'm just being picky I guess. Thanks for the suggestions folks 🙂

I just splashed out on a carbon toupe, silly silly money but by gosh its a thing of beauty, had my bum measured and got the appropriate size and its made all my other saddles look so bad in comparison.

eta. re read the post, I wouldn't put this on a patriot!

I just had my first ride on my Crank Brothers Iodine 11,its comfy, flexy and looks the nuts on a black and gold bike. The last bit aint important? I was worried about Crank Brothers after all the negatives on many forums but then read Singletracks review of the cheaper Iodine 3 and was relieved as i had already ordered the 11 . Anyway nice saddle but there are one or two others out there to choose from, have fun trying them out, as im sure a LBS will let you trial a few designs?

You shouldn't have shown me the Iodine 11! I need a new saddle and the JPS colour scheme has me sold. Who cares what it feels like?
(BTW, do they still make John Player Specials?)
