I've a hankering to take the ferry from Birkenhead to Liverpool and head North towards Crosby on the Leeds and Liverpool canal path.
I've spent an evening on google maps trying to pick a route from Pier Head to the canal, and pretty much everywhere seems to be fast-looking urban roads - no place for a country boy at 17:00 on a Friday!
What route would people recommend that minimises my risk of a traffic related early death on a Friday Evening?
Ta.
Maybe jump on a train at James St up to Sandhills?
waterloo road and regent road will be fine if somewhat bumpy - its a bit of a rat run ish but the best option to cycle down iMHO as its pretty wide and only one lane each side.
Take that to titanic wharf
Not sure if you can cycle the canal tbh as I only know if from driving to work
That makes sense, thanks.
I've been told that you can cycle on the tow path, but not specifically that section. It shows up on the Strava heat-map, so I presume it's possible.
I wouldn't like to ride the main road as that is hampered by parking and the like. The route I mentioned would not cause me any concern and I would take noobs along it as it is wide and not that busy except rush hours
