& does the right-hand remote mounted left perform best?
Google?
By "best", do you mean, "cheapest"?
The two are not always the same.
Does a used one interest you?
By best I don't mean cheapest as there seem to be longevity issues with the cheap ones.
I might be interested in a used one depending on the deal. ( email is in my profile ).
If I was buying another dropper post (I have two reverbs on two bikes atm) I'd be seriously considering something different. The reliability issues with reverbs are really starting to piss me off. There's a review in what mtb this month if that helps. KS and Thomson come out higher in that review, I like the look of the KS
I've had most brands except Thompson, I think theyre all unreliable to a point, the reverb is probably my favoured product atm just because when they work they work well, you can buy a stealth one for under £200 on the continent due the current exchange rate.
Currently I have a specialized which is basic but doesn't like the cold ( there is a fix)
Waiting for the Marzocchi to come out, hopefully it'll have a three year warranty like their forks
Reverb @ Bike Discount is my favourite had 2 recently.
£165 and its full retail boxed and bleed kit unlike the more expensive UK OEM ones.
Don't think i'd go anywhere else for rockshox kit now.
Bike Discount for a Reverb or KS with the current exchange rate, provided that you have a credit card that doesn't charge you a fee for FX.
does the right-hand remote mounted left perform best?
I brought a left remote and mounted it right, running both front & rear shifters on a double, main benefit for me was that with the remote under the h'bar it leaves the top of the h'bar free for me to use for multi hand positioning, something i like to do, others like the fact it's more out of the way for crashing and turning bike upside downsies.
I have SLX shifters and left the windows on as it didn't actually move the remote much further out without. I do have to move my hand inboard to drop the post, i can live with that, it would be best to have it within reach, i can see the appeal of mating it direct to SRAM kit which is slick.
So why do you have the lever on the right not the left as most of your gear changing will be done with the right hand shifter ? You could have it on the left and still have the benefits of it being under the bars .
if you dont mind the looks and want it to work in 5 years time then a Gravity dropper is still the best
Everything else is prettier and less reliable.
"Best" is to have the remote UNDER the bar on whichever side you choose - out of harm's way.
We have no idea if you use one shifter, or two - or none.
Bought a RH Stealth from Merlin last month, mounted it under the bars on the left.
Looks good and out of harms way.
£240 c/w bleed kit.
I needed the bleed kit and wanted a UK supplier for warranty.
Winstanleys for £174 - non stealth full retail with bleed kit
